RETRO COMEBACK : ZASHIKIBUTA

Zashikibuta is one of the Sanrio characters from Japan.
Buta in Japanese means pig.
He’s been around since the 80’s but Sanrio discontinued him after a few years. I used to talk about him to younger Sanrio fans and they’d respond by saying “What’s that?” or “Zashiki who?” Recently I was at a Sanrio store and saw this stuffed version. He alongside other characters from the past (Little Twin Stars, Tuxedo Sam, Kerokeropi) are being given a second life. I’m glad Sanrio took him out of the time capsule for another generation to enjoy!
Not bad for a makeover. This is what the original Zashikibuta looked like…

Actually I think the newer one went through lipo or some diet cause it looks like it shed a few pounds.
