April 22, 2014

It’s worth checking out the series on DVD.

Who is Joseph Campbell?

Joseph John Campbell (March 26, 1904 – October 30, 1987) was an American mythologist, writer and lecturer, best known for his work in comparative mythology and comparative religion. His work is vast, covering many aspects of the human experience. His philosophy is often summarized by his phrase: “Follow your bliss.”[1]

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

April 21, 2014

I picked up “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” on Blu-ray.  What sparked my curiosity was the marketing promo for this film.  Instead of spending $25k on a trailer, the filmmaker decided to help out typhoon victims across the globe.

Pretty enlightening movie.

To sum it up, better to do something than just dream about it.

Check it out if you’re interested.

Something to think about…

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”
-Alice Walker

Life can be challenging sometimes and there is always going to be that naysayer who is not compassionate.

That person is just ignorant and most likely does not experience love.

They can let you down.  They can make you feel like crap, making you think they have the power and control over you.

What you have to do is remind yourself.  You have that power too.

Julie and Juila

Meryl Streep as "Julia Child" in Columbia Pictures' JULIE & JULIA.

Whenever I’m feeling down or challenged, I put on a movie.  The movie : Nora Ephron’s “Julie and Julia”.

Reasons why I love watching this movie:
– It’s encouraging
– Great location : Paris and New York
– It’s based on a true story
– It’s about food
– It’s about blogging
– Great relationships : Julie and Julia’s relationships with their spouse and girlfriends.
– It’s directed by Nora Ephron and Meryl Streep playing Julia Child (need I say more)

I highly recommend you watch it if you haven’t seen it.

Bon appetit!
